GRAEME CONNORS ACHIEVES HIGHEST ARIA CHART PLACING
OF HIS 40 YEAR CAREER WITH NEW ALBUM ’60 SUMMERS’
Graeme Connors has this week achieved the highest ARIA chart position of his celebrated 40 year career with his new album “60 Summers: The Ultimate Collection” debuting at #11 on the ARIA All-Genre Album Chart. He also has for the second time in his career reached #1 on the ARIA Country Album Chart and #3 on the Australian Artist Album Chart.
The last few weeks have not only seen Graeme release his album, he also released the clip for the lead single “60 Summers” (SEE HERE), been a part of fundraising for the drought relief in Barcaldine and celebrated his 60th birthday with many of his peers wishing him the best (SEE HERE.)
Graeme commented “I am thrilled that after 40+ years in the music business and 60 years on earth I have the opportunity to achieve new milestones and I look forward to sharing my thanks with some of the friends & fans that make these things happen when I hit the road for the ’60 Summers’ tour”.
Graeme Connors has notched up over 40 years in the industry and has been awarded fourteen Golden Guitars, an ARIA award, two APRA songwriting awards, two PPCA Awards, two MO Awards, twelve Tamworth Songwriters Association Awards, and a prestigious Songmaker accolade (for contributions to Australian songwriting). He has released 19 albums to date which have collectively sold over 400,000 units and have spent a total of 749 weeks in the ARIA Country Album Chart.
Most recently Graeme was announced as the 2016 inductee into the Roll of Renown (Australia’s Country Music Hall of Fame) seeing his name alongside the likes of Slim Dusty and Jimmy Little.
’60 Summers: The Ultimate Collection’ is a mixture of 37 songs from the very beginning of his career through such landmark albums as ‘The Return’, ‘The Road Less Travelled’, ‘This Is Life’, ‘The Moment’ and ‘Still Walking’. There are also re-mixed and re-mastered selections from ‘North’ and ‘South Of These Days’ along with four new songs including the title track.
Graeme will unroll the ’60 Summers’ tour starting later this month. The first leg of the tour will see Graeme visit Toowoomba, Brisbane, Bundaberg, Rockhampton, Cairns, Townsville and his hometown, Mackay. Further dates around the country will soon be announced.
